What We Do

The Seoul Sports Council organizes and plans the following projects that are unique to the SSC. SSC is responsible for 77 projects in total of which 21 are projects to develop professional sports and 56 are projects to support sports-for-all activities.

Major Projects

  • Building, Managing, and Operating Sports Facilities
  • Hosting various sports competitions within Seoul and furthering international exchange, which include
  • Hosting sports competitions for 78 member sports events under the name of the Mayor of Seoul and provides support for participation in inter-provincial competitions
  • Promoting further international exchange in sports among cities including Seoul, Beijing, and Moscow
  • Hosting and providing support for 11 international sports competitions including the FIVB Volleyball World League
  • Providing support for Seoul Citizen Sports Festival and national-level, city-level, and gu-level competitions for each sport
  • Furthering the development of athletes, coaches, publicly supported Team Seoul, and research regarding sports skills
  • National Winter Sports Festival: 7 Events with 750 Participants
  • Korean National Sports Festival: 47 Events with 1,800 Participants
  • Undertaking which include sports-for-all campaigns for citizens and providing of life-cycle sports-for-all programs
  • Developing promotion and cooperative programs for the ‘Let’s Exercise, Seoul’ Campaign
  • Hosting 9 events of sports-for-all competition for the elderly in Seoul having 5,000 participants
  • Supporting sports-for-all commissioned projects (14 projects)
  • Supporting local sports clubs and the clubs’ activities
  • Operating the Sports-For-All Seoul Citizens League (S-League): which include hosting zone, limited area and final games for each 5 events.
  • Operating the Seoul Sports Club: 24 training facilities for 7 events in operation
  • Projects to promote local school sports, professional sports, and sports-for-all activities
  • Assigning and supporting the activities of sports-for-all instructors: 322 instructors assigned (general 164, elderly 157)
